Call for Associate Editors

The SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing is accepting applications for the position of Associate Editor for the following topics:
  • Reliability and Robust Design in Automotive Aero-Thermal and Fluid Systems / Reliability and Accelerated Testing / Axiomatic Design
  • Reliability-Based Design Optimization and Robustness / Decision Under Uncertainty/Uncertainty Modeling
  • Reliability and Robust Design: Model Validation and Verification/Load Simulation and Analysis in Automotive Engineering
  • Reliability and Robust Design in Automotive Engineering: Design for Six Sigma
  • Accelerated Reliability and Durability Testing Technology
  • Lean Manufacturing Implementation and Global Supply Chain
  • Leadership for Lean, Green and Safe
  • Virtual Design and Engineering
  • Optical Measurement and Nondestructive Testing Techniques/Materials and Residual Stress Testing/Fatigue Research and Applications
  • Plastic Components, Processes and Technologies/Structural Plastic Composite Components

Duties
  1. Ensuring timely processing of submitted manuscripts
  2. Initial screening of manuscript to determine if peer review is merited
  3. After initial screening, within five working days, inviting suitable peer reviewers and possible alternates
  4. Monitoring the review process to ensure timely peer review, with the result of securing a minimum of three completed reviews
  5. Evaluating the reviewers’ comments and deciding whether to Accept as is [with recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief (EIC)], send for Revision, or Reject
  6. In the case of Revision, evaluating the revised manuscript and sending for additional review if needed and finally making a final recommendation to the EIC
Requirements
  1. Published author within the last five years
  2. Experience in the peer-review process
  3. Competency in a subject(s) covered in the respective journal
  4. Detail-oriented and able to monitor progress of assigned articles
  5. At least seven years of experience after receiving Bachelor’s degree
